Museum of Korea Straw and Plants Handcraft

For those who are looking for a good museum to bring their children to, the Museum of Korea Straw and Plants Handcraft is a good choice - it’s got all the elements children like: art, stories and some hands-on action. It opened in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul, in 1993, and moved to Jongno District, central Seoul, in 2001. Director In Byung-sun dedicated his life to studying straw and plants handcraft. The museum says straw and plants are the oldest and most widely used materials by mankind since ancient times, adding that there should be a “straw and plant age” like the stone or iron ages.

Children are welcome to take part in programs in which they try to become artisans in their own right.
